How to save money in the initial stages
So it’s time to renovate. Should we renovate? Where do we start? How much will it cost? What do we want? Is it possible? These are all questions that we hear a lot.
The Initial stages of a renovation or build are not often discussed, but I think they should be. There are a lot of costs involved with the initial stages, and going about it correctly can save you a lot of time and money and also save you money in the build process.
From our experience, consultation with a builder and designer as your first step can save you thousands. It can be very costly to start the process without a vision or knowing what’s structurally feasible with your home.
I love architects, and I think they’re brilliant, but obviously, this is a cost in the initial stages that can “blow out”. They want to create the very best aesthetic for you. Still, suppose you don’t approach this stage with a vision, information regarding the structure of your home and some rough idea of what a realistic budget looks like. In that case, you could be staring down the barrel of revision after revision. Which unfortunately costs a lot of money.
Not to mention the costs associated with approvals. Working alongside a planner who knows your local council’s requirements can save you time, money, and stress.
After working closely with builders for years, without a doubt, the most cost-effective way to build is by having everything picked out and organised (as much as possible) before you start. Making decisions and changes during the process can hold up the process and will become quite costly.
We can help with all of the above. Our guiding process is here to reduce stress and make the process fun.
